Screenprinting is the reproduction of an image or text using plastic ink applied to a shirt through a mesh or silk screen. Screenprinting ink is a thicker ink which is applied directly on top of a shirt fabric. 123Shirt offers a variety of custom screenprinting options, each with their own set of benefits.


Custom T-Shirt Printing Size Guidelines


We accept most file types, allowing you to create your own logo, artwork, or images in any art program you want. We require that you save artwork in the same size you want the image printed.

Size Requirements For Custom Shirts:

The maximum width for printing is Men’s Adult shirts is 12 inches wide. Standard left chest logos should fit within 4″ x 4″.Full shirt printing for the front or back can be as large as 12″ x 16″. A vertical height of 10″-12″ is recommended.
Most ladies, juniors or youth sizes should not exceed 9″ to 10″ wide (depending on the product).
Toddler design sizes should not exceed 6″ wide.
Infant design sizes should not exceed 5″ wide.

Size Requirements For Custom Hoodies:

Hoodies on the front have very limited print areas between the top of the pocket and the neckline. Adult Hoodies have a maximum print area only 10″ to 11″ high. Youth hoodies have a maximum print area of 7″ inches high.

Custom T-Shirt Print Positioning


We can print in a variety of locations: Front, Back, Left or Right Chest, Left Sleeve, Right Sleeve, etc. However, there are a few print positioning rules to keep in mind for maximum quality:

  • Printing cannot go to the edge of a shirt or be set into shirt corners.
  • Printing cannot cover the entire shirt or span from left sleeve to right sleeve.
  • Printing cannot go above necklines or onto shoulders.
  • Printing cannot curve around necklines or follow seams or hems.
  • Printing cannot go over zippers, stitched hems, or pockets.
  • Printing cannot wrap 360 degrees around a shirt.

Exact dimensional positioning for front, back or sleeve printing is per our equipment requirements and standards. THE MAXIMUM SIZE for printing any image is 13” wide by 18” high, centered on the shirt below the neck line. For Ladies and Youth sizes, the print area is much smaller depending on the shirt style and overall measurements.

We offer both Custom Screenprinting (silkscreen) & DTG Digital Printing. Here’s a rundown of each printing method to help you better understand your options.

Screenprinting: Maximum Print Size 13″ x 18″

Screenprinting is the most popular method of printing, and most cost-effective. It’s ideal for large quantity printing projects using a few basic printed colors. It can print on almost all types of fabrics, except Nylon.

Digital Printing: Maximum Print Size 12″ x 16″

Digital printing is great for printing very high quality artwork, fine lines, intricate details, shade, and shadows. It offers unlimited color designs or photos on any color fabric. Prints on 100% Cotton, 90/10 or 80/20 fabrics ONLY.
